2008-02-05 12:41:42 by 16091609I work at an events center and have seen people use an entire fake cake with real fondant and decorations. There is a spot where they put real cake in for the cutting. While this is going on, we are in back cutting sheet cake from another store for serving. I'm not sure how much it costs to get a "fake" cake just for looks, but it must be cheaper than buying the whole wedding tower of cakes. Call around, someone can give you an idea of costs.
I've also seen people buy scented candles for center peices. They are cheap and you save on flowers, plus the room smells great.

It doesn't hurt to negotiate though. Our reception was at the Hilton. I got the room for free, decorations for free, waived the cake cutting fees, the wine corking fees, and the hotel rooms for $25 per night for my guests. We had to have a cash bar though and I had to promise to use them for business stuff too. But worth it!

My wedding isn't until July 16th 2011. Our wedding colours are brown and pink. We are decorating our own head table. I have no ideas on how to decorate it..so any ideas will be greatly appreciated also pictures as well

Would like to have a small destination wedding in the US on the beach. Plan on having mostly immediate family. But would like a little decorated area on a nice private beach area. I plan to spend only $500 or less on …o get a tiered wedding cake. Plan to have a photographer. We'll need to pay for our flight & hotel stay as well as for our 3 children. Can this be done for $5000 or less? Not sure where to have it at yet. Need tips!
